Rescue Me - Christy Reece

A covert operative of Last Chance Rescue (LCR) Enterprises, Eden St. Claire has made secrets her life’s work. Seven years ago, an evening of emotional vulnerability and pure pleasure almost destroyed her. Now Eden wears her beauty like a mask, concealing any hint of vulnerability or the demons of her past.

A daring rescue of an innocent girl on a Greek island leads Eden to a new partner. Jordan Montgomery has been looking for Eden–though he knows her by another name, from another time. But his search for her is overshadowed by a case that’s gone international. A powerful, ruthless, organized network is stealing women and children around the world. And a lover, a traitor, and a killer all wait for Eden’s next move

Rescue Me (Last Chance Rescue, #1)WOW!! This was a really good romantic suspense book. My first from Christy Reece. I had read some good reviews on this series, and decided to give it a go.

The suspense part of the story involves human trafficking, selling anyone from babies to teenage girls to young women. And there’s plenty of action when it comes to hunting down the bad guys.
Remember Me starts out during the teenage years of Devon Winters, 13 year old Devon has a wicked awful mother, I found myself wanting to shield this young girl from this atrocious woman Alise. Evidently she never wanted Devon, and never let this sweet girl forget it. She has a stepfather, Harry who has come to love Devon very much, as his own over the years. Much of this young girls happiness has come from Harry and his Godson Jordan Montgomery. Jordan has been contacted by a special government ops division to come work for them, not even out of college he accepts. Devon is shipped off to boarding school.

We jump ahead 8 years later, a now 21year old Devon who has always loved Jordan, and not as a brother. Jordan and Devon haven’t seen each other in 8 years, and she has changed a lot. She wants Jordan to see her as a woman, not the girl he remembers from years ago. They meet at a ball, and sparks fly, and they end up sleeping together. Jordan doesn’t know that it’s Devon he has just slept with. Well thanks to Alise, she unloads a bunch of lies about Devon on Jordan and all hell breaks loose. Jordan says some terrible, hurtful things to this young lady. I wanted to punch Jordan. Sure Devon was deceitful in not telling Jordan who she was, but sleeping with Jordan wasn’t her intent that night, and Jordan ripped this girls heart to shreds.

Minutes after leaving Jordan’s apartment that night, Devon is snatched up by 2 men, and brutalized in the worst ways imaginable. These events change Devon’s life forever. That is until Jordan enters her life again 7 years later. And again Jordan doesn’t know who she is……

This was a great read from beginning to end, love lost and found, deceit, survival and redemption!!

There is great character development of all the characters, and Devon/Eden is wonderful. And as much as I wanted to kick Jordan’s ass, I ended up loving him too!! I’m looking forward to the next book, it will take up where this one leaves off.
